Design and Technology






It is important to have correct design to the space where learning occurs. The design can create a calm feeling to those that utilize the particular space or it can affect the learning in a negastive way. Proper space is necessary for increased learning. When it comes to technology used, teachers are taking full advantage of the various apps and tools available.

This was a design I had to create in one of the last LIS courses I took SPRING 2018. We had to redseign our current library space to impact higher learnig and better flow through out the library space .

Learner-Centered


In a learner-centered environment, the student is fully responsioble for their own learning. This occurs thriugh evaluations, research, surveying, and many other ways to gain knowledge and information to solve a real world issue. The teacher is mainly a facilitator, not the lecturer. The students may work in groups or individually to complete the assigned project in a timely manner.
When I was employee with the A. Maceo Smith NEw Tech High School in Dallas Texas, we had the opportunity to be fully trained a PBL insturctors that allows us to receive vital information to allow the student to be and remain successful.

Integrated Communication

When it comes to communication within my school, the staff uses an app called, Voxer. This allows for direct and group texting so that all or a few can be informed on information that needs to be known immediately. This app allows for images to be uploaded if needed. When we have businesses come to our school and provided lunch, someone will take a photo of the food and post lunch by company in break room. This lets those whom were uninformed be informed. 



We communicate with our students and parents through an app that participants must register and sign up for your class/group. This app was called the Remind app. Once in the owner(s) can send messages to the whole or individual. Parents can also log into this group or a different one specifically for them. This is also how we output information to our students taking courses at the community college.

Informed Decision-Making

Informed Decision-Making

                     

I believe that using research and documented best practices helps make informed decision regarding technology integration because it gives you detailed information and results that have been attempt in other schools on what and how technology best works in the classroom. When decideing to use the documented best practices, you have to ask yourself, "Does this really happen in my classroom or school." Some best practices work in certain environments where in other environments, it will not be as successful. I believe that have what it takes to make informed decisions, based on my past experiences and the knowledge and infomration gained throuighout my educational and teaching experiences. In my current position, I have to make informed decision that will benefit the overalll group of students that are in the collegiate program. When it comes to course selections for our various pathways to creating transportation schedules that allow for students to travel back and forth between the high school campus and the community college campus where they are taking dual credit courses. Being in the adminsitrative role, you spend a lot of time in meeting woith your team creating solutions for various problems that may or have rose with your students. If it is a transportastion issue, scheduling problems, or maintiaing grades, your decisions can support or not support the students at hand. In my program, we had to figure out how to accommendate all of our 103 juniors schedules so that they can meet the expectations of both high school and college courses. Spending over 3 weeks trying to situate schedules and and corse requirements for students has been an eye-opening process. When you think you have gotten the idea or hang of the process, a wrench is thrown in or you are denied your request. This is a decision making issue that I am facing with my current job.

My name is Kendron T. Robertson, I am currently enrolled in Texas A&M University - Commerce in the Educational Technology program. I currently have my Bachelor degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Business Administration- Marketing concentration. I have over 9 years of experience traching education from various subject from Mathematics, CATE ( A/V Production, Animations, and Graphic design), Technology Applications , and Special Education.

I first became a teacher to become a football coach. My reasoning for wanting a job in the education field. As I spent more time in the classrooms (English and Mathematics) as an Inclusion teacher, I started to notice how I could be effective. And that was better served in the mathematics classes. I alos ref football games, am a master barber, and has an video production company.

      
Last year has the media specialist/yearbook advisor for my campus, I created our schools very first interactive yearbook and also design the cover (pictured below.) This was fun and creative in my thought becase for some of the photographs in the yearbook, video  was attached through a free app caleed HP Reveal.

My goals as a teacher are to teach my students to be responsible, engaged, proactive, and independent learners. I believe that students must take full responsible of their own knowledge and skills improvement. I wish to produce model citizens that have the skills needed by workforce employees that allow them a chance to gain employment far beyond their parents current status.

As a teacher it was my responsibility to keep current on technology improvement and advances that were occuring to keep up with the changing world around us. Students have information at their finger tips but are struggling with knowing how ot properly access and connect the knowledge to real world situation. With technology students get the chance to see parts of the world that in my time you had to actually make a visit to that location.
