TECH PLAY 1

Hello welcome to the world of Kendron T. Robertson and Technology! This is my first time trying to run a blog, eventhough it is something I need to know, in order to use as a demonstration piece for the students in my Technology Applications classes.

What is a Blog actually? A definition I search stated "Blog, pronounced bläg, is a personal website or web page on which an individual records opinions, links to other sites, etc. on a regular basis." And my thought was also in the same playing area but more like a blog is a website that lets someone record written expressions or comments, and many other topics like discussing products reviews, PSA, dialog chatting, etc. I mean you can basically have a blog about ANYTHING! Blogging is good for getting information out to wide spread audiences with instant delivery and response time.

CONTENT:
(6) - Technology operations and concepts. The student demonstrates a thorough understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. The student is expected to:
    (A) use current technology terminology appropriately,
    (B) select technology tools based on application and support,
    (C) identify and understand operating systems, and
    (E) identify and understand hardware systems

ASSIGNMENT:
Mr. Thompson, 65 year old retiree, wants to start his own online eCommerce business. The only problems is he needs to buy a new computer system. Mr. Thompson has no idea where to start when it comes to purchasing a computer, so he decides to asked the local Technology teacher at the nearby J.W. Black Middle School. He needs a large monitor, lots of storage capability of files and data, fast processor, and nice sounding speakers.

Students will log on to the internet, research 3 Desktop Computer Packages, which include a tower/flat case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers. Compare the PRICE, CPU, RAM, HARD DRIVE, MONITER SIZE, AND ANY EXTRA OFFERS/ADD-INS.  Using the prior knowledge, determine which computer system is all-around best for Mr. Thompson and present your report details in an presentation.

Now the student had the choice (2) of any presentation atyles, with Oral being one of the choices:
   * Oral (required)
   * Written
   * Video
   * Power Point
   * Poster Visual

All my students chose written as their second choice.

I could have use a BLOG as the main plate for all the students responses. That way all the information would have been in one main location, could have been read and responded to at later time. They could have posted pictures of the desktop packages for visuals.

I am excited about blogs now that i have become comfortable with it. I can't wait til we reach that part of our curriculum so I can inspire the students.

The only obstacle I had with this program was finding the section where i left off from last time edited my page. Other than that, there were no significant obstacles that I can recall. As for students, they will need strong supervision while blogging and posting comments. Strong monitoring is needed there buy the teachers. Thats when they should be a program that allows the teacher to view a students screen if they chose too.... or as the student clicks "POST" the blog nust first be read by the teacher andthen allow to be seen by the students.....
