Vanity Search #2
I noticed that my youtube page shows early in the results. This has to be due to the number of hits from the class searches. I didn't notice the hudl account on the list. It must have dropped under some other search results that were more recent. My blogger site has two different result links. I also noticed that it shows my pay stubs from refereeing football games in the past.

As we have found out throughout these past 7 weeks, web 2.0 tools bring a new type of engagement into the classroom. These tools are created to allow the user to be able to use and operate with ease and accomplish their educational goal needs for projects and assignments. In the future, I will do a thorough overview of new tools that come out before using them in the classroom. It has been a interesting class and I have learned so much about web 2.0 tools and vanity searching.

Using Diigo this week in class was a bit interesting. I found out how to collect or gather website links on one live page that can be shared with others. The way I was completing this was by copying and pasting the links into Google Docs and sharing it that way. I like this way better because it is a lot faster and easier to do it this way with Diigo.

Protopage and Aggregating pages
As I played around in this new web 2.0 tool, I was actually excited to see that we can place multiple social media accounts feed on one page to monitor and/or view. This is cool and I can think of a few ways that this an be used within a classroom, especially a English class.
try it out on your media accts and added as many linked pages as possible to stay in the loop.

This week we explored the uses of Youtube. I am very familiar with the tools due to uploading videos that I edit and produce. For classroom use, is where I find it difficult to have meaning use with thois tools. Even though I know that student can learn from youTube, it is the actually lesson polanning and procedures that lead up to the search where I get lost at.
I even found more tools to use with Twitter:

This is my personal vanity search. I posted this in the JOURNALS tab in our class menu on the TAMUC page last week and decided to add it on here.......
In my vanity search I found some information that I knew about and some that I didn't realize would show up. The things I knew about were my Hudl account, where I load sports video up for teams, like my daughters soccer team. LinkedIn, which I don't even use. I signed up for the account but have never paid it any attention. I also noticed a posting was loaded of a calendar I posted at work. My tech app stop website, which is my blog page used for this class, was made for a previous course at TAMUC. I saw my Thingiverse account, which is an account for the 3-D printer we have at my school. I had to play around with it to see how it functioned and needed an account to view other potential things to print out. What I didn't expect to see in my vanity search, were 2 articles from when I was in college playing football. They brought back so good memories for me.

What apps do I have installed on my tablet/smartphone that can be used with Twitter?
I don't totally know what all apps are compatible with Twitter but the ones that I do know about and use are:
1.) Hootsuite - hootsuite allows me to schedule and send out social messages to one or all social media platforms at the same time. I think mine is connected to my Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

2.) YouTube - is a media platform that hosts videos. When i upload my videos, i can automatically send the links to twitter, facebook, and many more outlets.

I know there may be more apps that connect with Twitter, I just have not found them. But hopefully through this time in this course, I will find them and be introduced to their powers.
HOW DOES TWITTER FIT IN MY WORLD AS AN EDUCATOR?

-Being that I am a Librarian, I could really utilize the powers of Twitter. I can post the newest book titles that have arrived to the school library, current events and activities for the day/week/month in the library. I could also used to show pictures of activities or new displays that have been added to the library. I could also simply post reviews of the books in the library to encourage the student and staff to come in the library to checkout titles. Parents can be informed of news from the school library as well.
I can also use to send student to others links that have valuable information for them to use.
